A million little pieces

By: Akeem Samuels | June 11th, 2008

293 days, 11 hours and 28 minutes left until the Seattle Sounders FC takes the field for the first time. What kind of things will we see happen between now and then? How will the pieces fall into place?

Until we hear further news of transactions and moves that complete the Sounders FC’s figurative puzzle, we are occupying oursleves with our own literal Sounders FC jigsaw puzzle.

Any good? As true Sounders fans, we did this jigsaw in under two minutes flat. Can you measure up? Post your times under the comments section!

1:56…while petting my cat, blogging elsewhere and humming the Sounders theme song backwards from start to finish, creating new Russian lyrics as I hummed.

Very nice accomplishment; I’ll try that petting the one eye snake, lets see if that’ll deter the focus.

akeem i can tell you what is going to happen. the seattle team will put a team on the pitch that will not be able to even compete with teams like fucking sheffield wednesday. they will be awful. unless they can attract a top european player,( which, given the weather in seattle seems highly unlikely) they will probably fold. what type of stadium are they going to be playing in?

Well Seattle will be playing in Qwest Field, a great and spanking new venue. You bring up a very good point when it comes to the actual competiveness the Sounders will put on the field next year. Despite being an expansion team, facing a dwindling American player pool, and scouring the bottom of the cookie jar for talent, the Sounders have the luxury of depending on a USL team that has fielded winning squads, which they can easily transisiton select players to the MLS; this would allow the very important chemistry to be in place. Check out a past piece, “Who Be Poppin’ the Bubbly?” (http://seattle.theoffside.com/team-news/who-be-poppin-the-bubbly.html) to gain some insight on a possible first year outlook. When it comes to Sheffield Wednesday, prolly wouldn’t put up a result, however we would make Cambridge United our bitch!

    Craig… wow… the MIGHTY sheffield Wednesday…
Qwest might have been one of the best stadiums I have ever seen soccer in btw.
