Are you a Season Ticket Holder? You May be Missing out on Extra Playoff Tickets

By: Laurie | October 21st, 2009

riotIn what seems to be one of the first miscalculations by the Sounders ticket office, it looks like partial season ticket holders and people who are waitlisted for next year are being given the chance to purchase extra playoff tickets before full season ticket holders.

From what I can tell, what seems to have happened is this: STH’s bought their playoff tickets first, which is fair. That ended Monday. After that, partial season ticket holders and folks on the waitlist got their shot before the general public. Which is also fair. Next step is ticket sales opening up to the general public, which happens on the 24th.

Except that partial STHs apparently have now been given the option of buying up to 8 playoff tickets. And they are. Yet as far as I can tell nobody notified the STHs of the option to purchase more tickets (I know I haven’t gotten an email), and the good tickets are being snatched up quickly. So if you’re in that boat? Go! Now! Order your tickets!! I’m being told that even if you try to buy tickets now, you can’t until they tell you you can.

I only wanted my three tickets, so this doesn’t affect me. But as an original STH, if I’d been patiently waiting my turn for extra tickets and ended up having to buy them at a premium on StubHub from non-STH’s? I’d be pissed.

Bad form, ticket office. Bad form.

(It’s a good thing Seattlites are too polite to riot.)

I’m a STH and need a couple more seats for the playoffs… and yet, the site won’t let me purchase extras like the Partial Season folks. We’re still waiting for our invitation apparently. Ugh!

This is incredibly frustrating. Very poor planning on their part.

Yep! The whole thing could have been avoided if they just allowed partial to purchase the number they already owned… and allow the lot of us to pick up extras together. Ugh

As a Partial STH, I was confused about that. I image if the STH could buy 8 tickets there wouldn’t have been any left for anyone else. I’m not going to send back the extra ticket I got, but I sure feel lucky I got it. They didn’t give me the option to keep my current seats though, we just had to pick what was available. Was that the same for STH?

No, STH’s got to keep the same seats, but weren’t offered the ability to buy extras. So a tradeoff. I’m okay with it because I didn’t want more seats. People who do are kind of screwed.

so i have been talking to lots of peeps on this, and i think i may (i hope) have some reasoning to this… although i am purely speculating.

it sounds like the tickets the PSTH’s are getting offered are any of the non STH’s (possibly the hawks nest) etc. But any STH’s seat is still “on hold” for a STH to purchase.

SO, having said that, when they open it up to the STH’s they will be able to purchase all of the seats of those STH’s that did not buy (and i hear there are a lot of them). so in actuality, we will get a selection to a crop of better seats.

so while i agree it feels a bass ackwards way of doing it, i think, for now, they deserve the benifit of the doubt b/c this could clearly benifit STH’s in the long run.

again. pure speculation, deduction… and deep internal feelings that i have buried deep down for a long time is driving me to this conclusion………. we will see

Not sure yamsmos… my friend with partial tickets purchased 8 playoff tickets in my section(all season ticket holders), one an aisle and 10 rows in front of me. Prime territory. But will wait to see what’s available once we’re invited…

Glad you’re searching deep down for this one though. Guess we’ll see.

Yes you will! Looking forward to it as long as you’re not holding your daughter and wearing goalie attire. That might be a bad omen, even with your catlike reflexes! ;)
