Do Me a Favor. Go to the Chelsea FanFest. Because I Would Just Embarrass Myself

I need you to do something for me. Go to the Chelsea FanFest at Qwest tomorrow (Friday) from 4-6:30. (Details at the bottom.)

I need you to go, because I can’t. Not that I’m doing anything more interesting or important tomorrow. The reason I can’t go is that I think I would embarrass myself.

Seriously, I would be too awestruck. I’d probably even drool. And not in a dainty, feminine, dab-the-corner-of-your-mouth-with-a-napkin kind of way, either. I’d probably be more like my black lab a couple of months ago, when my son was eating DQ fries in front of him, and all of a sudden we hear this drip, drip, drip on the carpet, like somebody had turned on a faucet in his mouth. It was so extreme that we thought he was having a petit mal seizure and we needed to adjust his meds. (He’s epileptic. Meaning the dog, not my son.)

Turns out he just really, really likes fries.

And now that I think of it, that’s kind of a creepy analogy. So never mind.

(Seriously, for me it’s all about the football.)

My point here is just that there are some Chelsea players that I really enjoy watching, to the point that I will sit without moving through an entire snoozefest boring defensive game like the first Champions League match against Barcelona. And now that they’re here in town, it will be all I can do to make it through Saturday’s game acting like a normal person.

So you go tomorrow. Take pictures. Get your scarf. Have fun.

ADIDAS HOSTS CHELSEA FC FAN FEST TO KICK OFF SEATTLE SOCCER WEEKEND

First 500 fans receive Chelsea FC scarves; all fans get access to Chelsea practice and can enter to win tickets to nearly sold-out July 18 Chelsea FC vs. Seattle Sounders match

WHAT:adidas is hosting the ultimate Chelsea FC Fan Fest on Friday, July 17, at Qwest Field in preparation for the team’s match against the Seattle Sounders on Saturday, July 18. By attending the event, fans can gain access to the Chelsea team practice at Quest Field.

The first 500 fans to arrive will receive Chelsea FC scarves and everyone in attendance will have access to Chelsea’s practice session at 5 p.m. Attendees can enter to win Chelsea FC jerseys and several lucky fans will win ticket packages to the nearly sold-out Sounders vs. Chelsea match.
