It’s Time for a Little Sounders Poetry!
By: Laurie | April 2nd, 2009
Ever have the kind of day that makes you want to throw it all away and move to Nantucket to start a limerick festival?
Yesterday was such a day.
I believe that this is a sign that it is time to bring back an old tradition: Laurie’s MLS poetry! (Of which you have already seen one example.)
My favorite form of the art is, of course, the limerick. I love limericks. And did you know that according to a now long-gone iteration of the Wikipedia page on limericks, the reason the city of Nantucket features so prominently in this type of poetry is that it was a whaling town? And limericks were, of course, popular with whalers?
That’s exactly what I would have guessed.
But limericks are the highest form of the art. You can’t just leap into a limerick. You need to kind of…sneak up on it. And so, to ease into this, I bring you: A couplet poem.
The Poem
in Which I Write Couplets
in Honor of Some of the
Seattle Players
We Know and Love
Séba’s promoted
His fans are devoted
Montero amazes
Seattle embraces
Freddie models undies
Wait, what was I talking about again?

This isn’t really a comment. This is just me, needing to post something to get that “porn mode” comment off the top of the sidebar.
Although…uh-oh. Wonder where it truncates. May need to do this again.

Okay, note to self. When you’re writing a comment to get another comment off the top of your sidebar, it’s probably not a good idea to quote the offensive part of the original comment in your follow-up comment.

Oh it’s nice, but I was expecting some words on good ol’ kasey keller

Oh, fine, Ken. You’re one of those people aren’t you? If I gave you filet mignon, you’d say, “Where’s the lobster?”
Not that I’d have any idea how to cook filet mignon. Or lobster. Speaking rhetorically here.
I tried to fit Kasey into this one, but it just wouldn’t happen, and true art cannot be forced. Perhaps next time he’ll get a poem all his own.
Hmmm… Wonder what rhymes with “shut out”?

Laurie have you seen the youtube video where the girl composed a song for Evan Brown? It’s kinda like poetry…

Ahhhhhh! Yes. That was awesome. Must have missed it. But if Evan Brown wants someone that’s legal…I’m here. Haha.

Hmm, “shut out” could rhyme with someone’s (single syllable name) pout?
Oh who am I kidding? Your poetic prowess far outweighs mine.
