Matchday 16; Seattle Sounders FC vs. Houston Dynamo
By: Steve | July 10th, 2009July 11, QWest Field, 1 p.m. PT

Two of the league’s top teams face off this Saturday as the Sounders will have a chance to move into second place in the West and 3 points of Houston for the first seed. The Sounders are looking to build on their convincing victory against Colorado, and especially the apparent chemistry between Jaqua and Montero. Will the Sounders be slowed by nagging injuries and a break from league play, or will their fast-paced and exciting attack crack the stout Houston defense?

Prediction:
The rash of injuries, suspensions and international absences are a great reason to expect victory on home soil. Houston is a solid team, but even in losses to Chivas USA, Seattle has proved it has what it takes to compete with the best. Home soil and momentum will rule the day.
Seattle takes it, 2-1.

Tyrone’s with Jamaica in the Gold Cup. (For some reason this hasn’t made any of the official match reports for this match. I’ll go in and add it to ours now.)
We’re hoping all of the other teams do well this weekend to knock Jamaica out and send him home!

And I’m thinking that in a game where we’re missing a starting central defender and both our central midfielders, and Houston is missing both of THEIR central defenders, this could be a high-scoring game. I predict 3-2, Sounders (but it will be a heartstopper.)

It will be a tough game for Houston, but if anyone can do it, it’s the Dynamo.
