Seattle Sounders FC v. Colorado Rapids, Lamar Hunt US Open Cup
By: Steve | May 26th, 2009Sounders FC vs. Rapids tonight in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup at Starfire in Tukwila. The live webcast on SoundersFC.com beginning at 7pm PT.
The Sounders will take on Colorado for the second time in 4 days in an attempt to qualify for the 2009 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The winner of the match will take the eight and final qualification spot for the tournament.
Last year, Colorado did not qualify for the cup and the sounders made it to the semi-finals before losing 4-3 on penalties to the runner-up Charleston Battery.
Neither team is expected to field their strongest squad. Evan Brown, Patrick Ianni, Tyson Wahl, Roger Levesque, Kevin Forrest, and Sanna Nyassi should all get a shot. With injuries, I would expect to see Stephen King and Peter Vagenas back in the lineup as well.
On another note, Fredy Montero has been nominated for his 3rd goal of the week for volley off the post and then header into the net. Watch and vote here.
Also, Sounders FC v. Everton has a nice ring to it. Currently 9 or the 11 all star leading vote-getters are Sounders.

We TFC fans tried that last year. We got one guy on the AS team. I think it will work out better for you all, you’ll probably get two.
