The US Federation wouldn’t award the spot to the MLS Sounders. They’re technically two different clubs. If the Sounders were to win the Open Cup, spot would go to a runner-up or something.

Wow, what a scenario that could truly be! Great work on bringing up the possibility of that happening and what decisions the United States Soccer Federations would have to make. The scenario in a way parallels what the FA had to do if out of England club Cardifff won the FA Cup. Great piece!
