Sounders FC to Make First Signing
By: Steve | May 1st, 200810 months from the inaugural season, the Seattle Sounders FC is prepared to make it’s first official signing today. The club wont have to go far to do so. French striker, Sebastien Le Toux, last year’s USL MVP for the Seattle Sounders will be our first official signing.
Le Toux originally tried out for FC Dallas in 2007, but rejected their offer of a developmental contract. A converted center back, he currently plays forward for the Seattle Sounders, where he totaled 17 goals through all competitions last year. Seattle Sounders Coach Brian Schmetzer had plenty of praise for the Frenchman, “As soon as we started training, I noticed that he was the fittest player I’ve ever seen. He just runs longer, harder and faster.”
Most scouts have projected Le Toux as more of an outside midfield player than a forward in the MLS. At 24, the lanky young man is recognized for his size, speed and amazing endurance. He could be the latest product from the factory of MLS forwards that is the Seattle Sounders. Both Brian Ching (Houston) and Maykel Galindo (Chivas USA) passed through Seattle to jump start their MLS careers.
Though not Henry, the French striker/midfielder is still a solid first signing for the franchise. He provides some MLS-ready talent that would probably be difficult to pick up in the expansion draft. If everything works out, maybe we will start 2009 with an all-France striker pairing (Le Toux, Henry). One can dream, right?

No surprise here. Ever since I watched LeToux last year I expected to see this.

I thought le two was already signed? I just saw him going into a Starbucks last weekend in Portland a couple hours before he left with the rest of the scum (including the head honcho schmuckzer: http://flickr.com/photos/totalnerd/2446565094/ ), tail-between-legs.
Oh right this isn’t a blog about the Seattle Sounders, it’s a blog about the Seattle Sounder FC. My mistake.

In March it was reported he signed a four-year deal. He’s been listed as making $84,000 on the MLS Players Union site since early April. I also don’t see him being an outside mid. He doesn’t have the foot speed. He does have excellent foot skills for a big guy. He’s better suited in the center of the pitch. He’ll be a nice, not spectacular, MLS player.

And they still lost to the Timbers.

Sebastien told me in March that he’d signed with MLS. The video with his saying this is on youtube.com.
He’ll be an honest, hard-worker for SSFC. Looks like Hanauer is mining the French side of things.

It’s so nice to see “Seattle” at the top of the MLS blog section. Hope to also see “Vancouver” up there before the league slows expansion.

Third time’s a charm!
I see you are cross-listed in USL, too. Don’t be afraid, you can hack it for one (more) year. Reporting on the USL Sounders might be more fun than you think.

For North America, Vancouver, Seattle and Portland should’ve been considered more over two teams in LA, San Jose, and Kansas City. We’ll all be there at some point and the fanbases will be impressive. Good luck to Seattle next year; down with the Sounders this year.

Wow, GoalSeattle.com, I wonder how that’s relevant to this blog.
Why is it somehow inappropriate for me to ask the blogger for seattle.theoffside.com - which page is linked from USL.theoffside.com - what he thought about a seattle sounders USL game?
