We Won the Coin Toss! Sounders to Host Colorado in Next USOC Play-in Match
By: Laurie | May 1st, 2009One more game, and then we can officially play in the US Open Cup. And the good news is our guys will be playing at home, and not mile high in May. (As a former Denver lass, I would like to point out that this is a very big deal.)
According to Don Ruiz at the News Tribune, it’s official: We won the coin toss, and the game will be played at Starfire. (Yes, Starfire. Not Qwest.)
The game will be played at Starfire, probably in late May. The official announcement of the date and of ticket information could come next week.
(Personal note to the USOC powers: Please, let it be the very last week of May when I’ll be in town, and not the second-to-last, when I’ll be in Italy. Since I know you make all of your decisions based on how they will affect me personally, I’d just like to point out that if you can do this, it will make me extremely happy. And we all know that this is what matters.)

I’ve always said the Rapids were hopeless tossers!

Admit it, Steve. You’ve been waiting to use that one ever since you heard this would be decided by coin toss, haven’t you?

Is there any chance this one will be broadcast locally? At least on radio maybe? It was kind of embarrassing listening to the Utah radio station (KALL I think it was) over the internet. Why wouldn’t the most commercially successful club in the league this season have this game broadcast locally?

That’s the $64m question, isn’t it? I sure hope so. Will let you know when I find out.
